Two unique contemporary town houses and the refurbishment of an unused former public house into four duplex flats, roof terrace and single large lateral flat.

The two unique interrelated houses were designed together as exercises in section in order to explore maximising both the openness of the interior spaces and openings in the building envelope, whilst retaining a sense of enclosure, privacy and sheltered amenity on a sensitive and heavily overlooked site. Considerations over the practicality of construction and carefully chosen material types, through the use of CLT and waterproof concrete retaining walls ensured efficiency and a high quality build within a tight excavated site in close proximity of other buildings and protected trees. Gold/brass cladding, green roofs and the refurbished original Victorian architecture sought to convey a respectful yet ambitious design intent behind the development.
