The proposed Fisheries development was an eight-storey new building consisting of residential and start up creative workspace. It is located in the creative heart of Hackney and is currently on site, after a prolonged planning process through which fourth_space delivered the bulk of the concept design and principle of development. 

The design was firmly rooted in the industrial heritage and the familiarity of warehouse typologies of the surrounding area. The careful consideration of materials and form was of particular importance. The corrugated aluminium cladding and pitched roof of the elevated ‘floating’ volume sought to make ambiguous the buildings scale/mass against the skyline, whilst the 2 storey brick gable end motif of the podium aimed to engage sensitively to the buildings surroundings at street level  

The development aspired to bring together domestic and commercial realms and create an open and communal atmosphere, providing highly sustainable housing where each apartment could enjoy a view towards London Fields.
